Getting into Talmberg is a lot easier than getting out. After Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s hectic opening, you’ll find yourself fleeing to the nearest city. The good people of Talmberg will happily take you in and give you shelter, but leaving the place can be pretty confusing.
Firstly, you’ll have to play through some basic story scenes. You’ll meet Robard, a key character, as well as Stephanie. Both will insist you eat and sleep and get back your strength, providing you with grub in the kitchen and a decent bed.
When you first go to sleep you’ll be woken by Stephanie who wants to chat. Talk to her and you’ll see she’s an ally to be kept on side. Be honest with her using Charisma and she’ll be able to help you a lot later on.
Once you’re done with the next cutscenes, in which the city of Talmberg narrowly avoids an attack of its own, you can finally start to think about moving on and exploring the open world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

How to get out of Talmberg
First, talk to Robard while you’re all still on the battlements. You objective is to return home and bury the bodies of your parents, but Robard will insist you cannot leave the castle. You won’t have enough persuasion or muscle to intimidate him so you’ll just have to go through the motions.
Explore the courtyards and buildings, where you’ll meet a trader. Again, you don’t have enough coin to buy anything really useful. Now, to escape the castle, you’re going to have to meet up with your friend Stephanie.
You’ll find Stephanie in the chambers above the kitchen where you ate when you first arrived. Talk to her and explain your predicament and she’ll tell you the best way to get out of Talmberg: You must steal Talmberg armour, but that’s not going to be easy to do. You should also explain to her that you’re poor, and in return she will give you a purse of 25 Groschen coins.
How to get Talmberg armour
You’ll find Talmberg armour at the top of the tower by the small drawbridge in a locked chest. You’re going to have to put your lockpicking skills to the test, so be sure to read up on how to lockpick and where to find lockpicks.
If you’re careful you can pick up all the Talmberg Armour here. Not only is it a great disguise for getting you out of the castle, it’s also great defence in the battles to come. We recommend using a Saviour Schnapps to save here in case you mess up and get caught or attacked. It really is worth reloading your save and getting this right so you leave with armour, a horse and the coins from Stephanie.
Now you have the right gear, you can leave the castle by taking a horse and riding out through the main gates. Once you ride far enough away from Talmberg you’ll complete this part of the story quest.
Jumping from the drawbridge
There are a few other ways to escape Talmberg, some of which are quicker but not as rewarding.
You can talk to a guard called Radim, who after a small bribe will tell you to pinch the Talmberg Armour in the same way that Stephanie did.
Or you can simply jump from the drawbridge into the moat. You’ll need to crouch under the chain and then jump into the moat below. Radim will give chase and you’ll have to either flee or persuade him to let you go.
Finally, you will be thrown out of the castle if you are caught for committing a crime. This will happen if you try to pinch the Talmberg Armour and are caught red-handed. When attacked by a guard, just surrender and you’ll be locked up for a while. The guards will take your coins though, so it’s a costly affair. You’ll be set free sometime later on the outside of the castle.
So that’s four different ways to get out of Talmberg, but if you’ve done it differently, let us know and we’ll add it to this guide.
After concluding the prologue, Henry doesn't have any armor which could defend him against enemy attacks. You need to find a better armor - this chapter contains a number of tips and ideas on how to do so.
A good set of armor can be found by completing the side objectives of certain parts of the main quest. Run! - the quest that involves you in an attempt to run away from the Talmberg castle. You can talk to the guard standing on the main gate's post to learn that he will allow you to pass the gate only if you were wearing a guard's tabard and equipment.
The armor is stored in one of the chests that can be found by following the quest marker - the chest, shown in the screenshot above, is found in one of the castle's towers. You can look around to find a shield that will also guard Henry against enemy attacks.
The other opportunity to gain an armor appears after you've made it to Rattay and begun a different main quest called Keeping the Peace. This quest sees you pick-up a set of guard armor.
You need to travel to the armory and either ask the guard shown in the screenshot or simply pick-up the armor from the chest (you'll also receive a club that is a good starting weapon for blunt damage).
You can also gain an armor on your own, without engaging in any of these quests. As you probably know, you can knock out a non-player character by placing yourself behind his/her back and pressing the right button. This attack works on all opponents, even those that are more powerful than Henry and would defeat him easily during real combat. You only need to watch out for other characters in order to be undetected during the attack and quickly leave the scene of the crime.
Try it and test this technique after reaching Talmberg. You can sneak behind one of the guards that patrol the castle walls on their own - the first screenshot shows an exemplary target. You can also look for an opportunity to attack one of the characters roaming the world of the game, including friendly and neutral knights equipped with heavy armor. A typical target is shown in the second screenshot.
Important note - There is an important limitation that involves wearing good armor in the initial stage of the game. Every armor weighs heavily and can exceed your carrying capacity. To get past this limitation, simply increase your Strength by 4 or 5 and unlock Mule I, a perk that increases your carrying capacity by 15 pounds. If you still cannot carry the armor, move the acquired armors to your horse's inventory and wait for a moment when your character has increased his strength.
The Quest, Run!, is the second Main Quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
This quest takes place just outside of Henry's home in Skalitz as you make for the town of Talmberg to warn of an attack.
Once you regain control of Henry, start moving. You don’t want to linger, as one of the Cuman mercenaries is hot on your trail, and even with Sir Radzig’s sword, he’ll cut you to pieces easily.
In fact, any enemy you see at this point should be avoided at all costs - make sure you sprint when you can to keep them at a distance. If you get drawn in to combat (note the clashing swords icon at the top), keep sprinting to break away before they catch you in an attack.
Make your way down the sloping paths, and keep heading South - as the attacking army is on the East side. If you try and double back along the road going North you are likely to get surrounded by incoming attackers. However, if you keep running down and then to the Southeast when possible, you’ll come down onto a road with very little enemies, but a nearby house is under attack… with a waiting horse nearby.
You may recall the girl Theresa you gave the nails too earlier - she’s being accosted in front of the house near the horse. You might not be the hero, and you certainly shouldn’t try and take on three mercenaries by yourself - but you can startle them to buy her time to run away, just make sure you sprint out of there too!
Whistling works both as a distraction and to summon a horse.
Once on horseback, start cantering away to get distance on your pursuers until a cutscene occurs.
Bad news, more enemies - this time on horseback - have injured you and are giving chase.
Once you regain control, immediately gallop to get a burst of speed and outpace your attackers. If you don’t hustle, they’ll fill you full of arrows before you can get away.
As you cross a small stream into the town of Rovna, hang on the left path as it goes out of town and over another stream. Talmberg lies off to the left along this stream, so hang a left and keep galloping until you’re out of stamina. Be sure to keep an eye on your horse’s stamina (the green bar).
When it gets low, switch from galloping to cantering to regenerate some stamina and take off again. Your attackers aren’t the kind to give up, so try zigzagging along the road to evade arrows until you finally reach Talmberg, where the garrison will scare them off.
After getting your wounds tended to by Sir Robard, you’ll speak to the master of Talmberg, Lord Divish, and tell him about what has befallen your home. Sadly, Lord Divish doesn’t have the means to assist those left in the castle, and is more worried about the safety of his own people. After you rest, you should go find the Captain, Sir Robard.
Head out onto the walkway outside and down into the courtyard and find Sir Robard in the corner. He’ll then lead you to kitchen - as you are in dire need of food and rest. Turns out, running for your life and taking an arrow to the leg can do that to you.
Follow Sir Robard to the kitchen to get a decent meal, and you’ll learn that your lodgings are in the courtyard.
Grab and eat enough food until your Nourishment is around 100 - best to eat the big meals that spoil soon, like the Roast Duck, and hold onto other items like bread and fruit that last a few days.
After filling your Nourishment, it’s time to refill your energy. Head out of the kitchen and cross to the other side to find your bed. If you don’t manage your energy level, tiredness will get the better of you, and you’ll find it hard to keep your eyes open! Rome total war unit id list.
For now, you should get a full night’s rest of about 9 hours or so, something to put your energy near 100 without lowering your nourishment too much.
However in this instance, you’ll still be woken up early regardless to speak with Lady Stephanie of Talmberg, and you have the opportunity to tell your story and increase your Speech level. Avoid the gory details (the battle icon) and focus on the regular speech options for a better shot at success.
Soon after, Sir Robard will wake you that someone is coming to Talmberg and you should join the rest of the garrison on the battlements. Once you get up, be sure to grab a torch and equip it in your inventory, then head outside and go around the longhouse you were in to find the path to the main gate.
Just to the left of the gate are stairs you can take up to the battlements. Head around to the South side to find everyone and speak to Sir Robard.
As a cutscene ensues, you’ll find that Sir Radzig managed to escape the castle and flee Sigismund’s army without a fight, but they’ll be marching further to find a place to shore up defenses. In the meantime, he wants you to stay put.
After they leave, Sir Robard will ask you to help keep watch during the downpour, so put your torch to good use and keep an eye out.
Of course, there’s not much to do, and a nearby guard will advise you just stay put and wait it out - courtesy of the Wait action. Set it for 2 hours to wait until morning - around 5am.
How To Get Talmberg Armor Without Lockpicking
Just a few minutes after 5, you’ll hear an alarm sound - follow the moving guards across from the castle to the adjoining wooden ramparts, where the garrison has gathered to watch Sigismund's army.
After a tense standoff, the army will depart, which means Skalitz lies abandoned and full of the dead.
Before you can return to bury your parents, you’ll need permission to leave the castle. Go find Sir Robard down by the Combat Arena. He doesn’t like the idea of you leaving after you were ordered not to, but you can try and convince him to no avail. So what now?
If you try to leave by the main gate you’ll be stopped by the guard Radim. You’ll have a bit better chance of convincing him - but only to a point. He’d be willing to let you pass if you could ensure the guard won’t get in trouble for it, and suggests a disguise. Capital idea!
You can also just… run for it, and jump off the drawbridge next to the castle. However, they’ll call the guards down below to fetch you - which means you’ll either have to sprint like hell, or bribe/persuade anyone who catches you to let you go.
If the guard won’t spill the beans, seek out Lady Stephanie and ask for help, and she’ll also suggest taking some armor - and give you several places to start looking. Be sure to also tell her you may need bribe money, and she’ll hook you up with a lot of groschen (you don’t have to bribe anyone either)!
If you’d rather score the free armor, head back inside to the castle.
There’s some loot in the gatehouse where the drawbridge is like a Talmberg Shield - but the chests here require lockpicks.
Barring that, you can at least score a bow and some arrows if you’d like on the upper floor.
You can also check the towers on both sides of the castle - go up the ladders to where the guards sleep and you should be able to find unlocked chests with a full suit of guard armor. You can double check with Stephanie to make sure your disguise is good enough before departing.
Be sure you also take the time to sell off whatever you pilfered in the kitchen that wasn’t technically stolen - same goes for the gatehouse.
You should also be sure to find your horse in the courtyard stable and take it with you when you leave, it’s a long road back home.
Once you leave, you’ll be free to go where you please, and check out the village below the castle. Here you’ll find a bathhouse - good to get real clean and look respectable. There’s also an inn to sleep in if you aren’t going back to the castle to sleep, and a tanner merchant.
Be sure to check your map for a quest giver on the outskirts of town, Tanner Brada would like help getting pelts on the side and could use your help if you fancy hunting whatever pelts he currently needs.
After that, start racing off towards Skalitz to your next quest.

Reaching the city of Talmberg in Kingdom Come: Deliverance may warrant a sigh of relief after the game’s frantic opening. While entering Talmberg is relatively easy, escaping Talmberg is a different story. There are a couple ways to get out of Talmberg, but the game doesn’t do much to help you figure out your options. In this guide, we’ll explain how to escape Talmberg in Kingdom Come: Deliverance and how you can get your first armor set in the process.
When you arrive in Talmberg during the Run! main story quest, you’ll meet several important characters including Sir Robard and Lady Stephanie. The two will help patch you up and give you a place to sleep. After you grab something to eat from the kitchen and hit the hay, you’ll be woken up by Stephanie. She wants to chat about what happened back in Skalitz. This is your chance to increase your stats using dialogue choices. Have an honest talk with Stephanie to increase your Charisma and Speech stats while gaining a valuable ally. Keep Stephanie in mind, as she can help you escape Talmberg later.
How to Escape Talmberg in Kingdom Come: Deliverance
A few cutscenes land some time spent on the battlements, you’ll eventually be ready to move on from your temporary lodgings in Talmberg. Once you’ve finished your patrol duty on the battlements, speak to Sir Robard and tell him that you need to return home to Skalitz. He’ll decline your request regardless, so don’t bother trying too hard to persuade him. After chatting with Robard, head through the courtyard. You’ll meet a Trader, but you probably don’t have much cash to spend anyway. Just take note of him for now and move on.
To escape from Talmberg Castle in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, you have several options available. You can choose between jumping off the drawbridge, getting caught stealing, or disguising yourself as a Talmberg guard. The latter option is the best way to get out of Talmberg, as it allows you to obtain the Talmberg Armor, your first armor set in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
How to Get the Talmberg Armor
To get the Talmberg armor in Kingdom Come, you must steal the armor from a locked chest at the end of the battlements, in the tower above the drawbridge. If you’ve got lockpicks to spare, you can try your hand at unlocking the chest now if you’re confident in your lockpicking skills, but you may want to secure a backup plan instead. Either way, make sure to save your game by sleeping or using Savior Schnapps before trying to unlock the chest in case you get caught or run out of lockpicks.
Option 1: Talk to Lady Stephanie
Make your way back toward the main courtyard and head upstairs to the rooms in the long hallway above the kitchen. Stephanie is found inside one of the rooms in the hall. We found her praying in the last room on the right.
When you find Stephanie, talk to her about your situation. Stephanie suggests you find a set of Talmberg Armor and escape from Talmberg disguised as a guard. Mention that you’re low on coin, and she’ll also give you 25 Groschen for free. She even comes up with a cover story for you to tell the guard at the gate. It’s really a brilliant plan.
After talking to Stephanie, sneak up to the tower where the Talmberg Armor chest is located, just upstairs before the drawbridge. Be sure to save before attempting to lockpick the chest. If you’re desperate for lockpicks, you can buy a couple from the Trader using the money Stephanie gave you.
Once you’ve obtained the Talmberg Armor, equip the pieces in the menu. One of the perks of this plan is that you can get a horse on your way out to help you make a quick getaway. When you reach the gate, speak to the guard using the cover story Stephanie planned for you, then gallop your way back to Skalitz.
Option 2: Talk to Guard Radim
Alternatively, you can also speak with a guard named Radim to initiate the Talmberg Armor quest. Radim is standing beside the front gate. After explaining your predicament, you can either bribe or persuade Radim for his cooperation. Sims 4 mods. He’ll mention where to find the Talmberg Armor, promising to play along when you try to flee.
Option 3: Jump off the Drawbridge
If you don’t want to bother with the Talmberg Armor, you can simply jump off the drawbridge instead. Crouch under the rope and drop down into the moat below. Be ready to sustain a few wounds depending on where you fall. If Radim comes after you, you can try persuading him to let you go.
Option 4: Get Arrested
Besides the options above, the only other way to escape from Talmberg is to get caught for committing a crime. This can happen if you get caught stealing the Talmberg Armor or other private possessions. If you’re caught stealing, simply surrender. The guards will lock you up for a while, then eventually they will set you free outside the castle. You’ll be out a few Groschen though, so this method isn’t ideal.
There you have it. Those are your options for finding the Talmberg Armor and escaping Talmberg in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The Homecoming quest is up next, so make sure you know where to find the spade in Kingdom Come.
